Fortunately – there is a solution.
Step 1 – First things first, Right-Click the newly-reinstated Start Menu and select Command Prompt (Admin) from the drop-down menu.
Step 2 – Type out the following command, then hit the Enter key
reg delete HKCRCLSID{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f
Step 3 – Enter the below command into the Command Prompt and then triumphantly hit the Enter key
netcfg -v -u dni_dne
Step 4 – Restart the PC and then double-check your wifi settings. You should now see a revived list of all of the available networks within range.
If you know you are running an older version of Cisco VPN client or SonicWall Global VPN, it is worth uninstalling the software before upgrading your PC to Windows 10 to avoid the issue.

FINALLY!!! After weeks of trying many suggestions....I found what works for me, and hopefully I have found an easy fix for some with a similar system!
I know this is a UK forum, although I live in Dallas, Texas, U.S.A., I'm only trying to help others.
Right click Windows icon,
open Device Manager,
click Network Adapters arrow to expand,
then (for me) I right click Dell Wireless 2.4GHz,
select Properties,
now select the Power Management tab.
De-select the box that says "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
This worked for me because I typically lost WiFi/Internet when my laptop went into sleep mode.

Switching to Windows 10 changed the setting of my router's bridging to "disabled." I found this out by accessing the gateway configuration URL and going to "Wireless" then to "Bridging" and setting it back to "enabled." I'm not an IT guy at all so this makes me very proud to have figured out.

netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off
reg delete HKCR\CLSID\{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /f
netcfg -v -u dni_dne

I finally got my WiFi working after trying what is recommended in this article and having short lived success. To get mine to work I had to go to device manager(right click the start button in the bottom right), then I went to my network adapters and found the one for wireless. I did a right click and went into properties, then advanced. All I had to do was switch the 802.11n channel width(it was my first setting in the scroll view section) to auto and now my computer is back to running really quickly.

Can anyone helps please.
My PC (my mainly used bit of kit) previously ran Window 7 & is connected to wireless router by Ethernet. Downloaded Windows 10 & everything worked OK, but will not connect to the Internet.
The Wireless router works OK connects to my phone laptop & tablet OK. (Laptop is Window 8.1 still waiting to upgrade that - not sure if I'll bother).
Can anyone offer advice how to re-connect to the internet. For info there is some downloaded VPN stuff for work remote connection - is this the cause?
Thanks in anticipation

After trying everything to could as suggested in many forums with no luck I started to replace all my drivers and the graphics driver fixed my greyed out wifi button. At first I couldnt turn it on and going through the motions as displayed in the forums it ended up greyed out. But all working now.. I actually like win 10. So, even though you may have the latest drivers, for hotkeys and video, reinstal them all.

I have a 2012 toshiba satellite l755. Just updated to windows 10 today. Initially wifi was working fine. After using windows 10 for about 5 mins, my laptop restarted due to some "unhandled exception". When it turned back on, the wifi logo was missing and no internet access was there.Only a disconnected lan symbol was there. I tried plugging my laptop via lan cable and still it showed disconnected and i was unable to access internet. So after trying a few methods i found on the internet( most common one was to type a few lines in command prompt as admin.nothing worked even after executing those commands and restarting the pc) here is what i did next.
1)Went to device manager
2)under network adapters, Atheros AR9002WB had a yellow exclamation mark on it.
3)right clicked it and clicked update driver software.
4) lo and behold, they show installing for about 5 seconds, then it says successfully updated and wifi started working fine!! Not even a restart was needed.
please do try and inform others if this works for you. Many seem to have problems with wifi after windows 10 upgrade. cheers

Above is the move.
I have a surface 2 Pro. Just updated to Windows 10. Wifi was working fine at home. Took it to work and it stopped working and 'Wifi' option no longer appeared in the 'Network and Internet' Settings.
This worked for me:
-search for device manger
-open device manger
-under network adapters there should be a yellow '!' next to whatever your computer's network controller is. Surface Pro 2's is a Marvell AVASTAR 350N...
-Right click on the network controller. I first tried to update the driver software (although the Surface was not connected to the internet.. so fail.) Next, disabled the controller and then enabled it. That fixed the issue. The yellow '!' disappeared and I could discover network wifi again. Also, my 'wifi' option reappeared in my network and internet settings.
Thanks to @GlennJimson

Had Windows 10 operating on 2 laptops - Have since reverted back to windows 7 and 8.1 respectively.
Windows 10 in its current form is a nightmare,
Boot times , poor screen resolution, generally significantly slower ,a rabid uncontrollable zoom feature. A massive amount of corrupt registry items, flawed windows update facility , concerns over lack of security. The list goes on and on
No thanks MS I'm sticking for now

The only version that was any good, and lasted for a long time was XP. After that, MS started to "improve" the product, 7, 8, 8.1, to the effect that no-one in their right mind would trust Win10 to work properly from the start.
MS use their customers as test drivers to discover what THEY should have put right before selling the stuff. It will be a long time before I change to Win10 - if at all.

Does anyone know if this will work if upgrading from windows 7? Seems to only mention windows 8.1 users in the article...

nothing new then, windows 8 machines wake up from standby and hibernate with disabled wifi adapters unless you turn them off during boot and switch on when finished.

I finally found the solution for the wifi connection : reset router configuration by also changing it's name and password . After restarting the computer it finally sees it! All other solutions were only 1 time working , after restarting computer i was having still the problem. Now it seems to keep working.

When I type the first command it says invalid key name. My wifi worked fine for a couple days but now it connects and says limited connection. I've connected to multiple hotspots and still does the same thing.

right click on the "Computer" icon on your desktop then select "manage", go to "Device manager" then locate the wireless driver, right click and select "uninstall".
